Transparency project

We trust in the power of collaboration and transparency. "Share and Win" is our principle: The objective of knowledge society is to share knowledge and let new things come of it.

The Internet, in particular, makes knowledge available to anyone, regardless of time or place. At bwin.party we have seized this opportunity to share knowledge, science and innovation power. We firmly believe that ultimately, this sharing will generate added value for society.

With the support of bwin.party, the Division on Addiction (DOA), Cambridge Health Alliance, a Harvard Medical School teaching Affiliate has given transparent access to the results of their privately-funded research, and to the data upon which their research was based. This data is publicly available to other researchers within the framework of the Transparency Project.

"Our aim is to support the democratization process that the Internet also has initiated in research. We are enabling to make the datasets and results of all research collaborative projects, and more, available on the website www.thetransparencyproject.org to the international community of researchers."
Norbert Teufelberger, co-CEO of bwin.party

The Transparency Project, for the first time ever, invites researchers working throughout the world to use the unique collection of empirical evidence reflecting real-time Internet gaming behaviour at bwin.party for their research purposes. In making the research data publicly available, the Division on Addiction, Cambridge Health Alliance, a Harvard Medical School Teaching Affiliate and bwin.party intend to give international research a renewed impetus by providing empirical evidence about Internet gaming. The database offers material for researchers from various disciplines – from psychology and economics to public policy and health care.

Since the project launch during February 2009, more than 30,000 unique visitors from over 50 different countries have visited the website. Users have downloaded the datasets available countless times and initiated new research collaborations.

"Ultimately, to the benefit of health providers as well as to political and legal decision-makers deciding on complex addiction-related issues, the Transparency Project will enhance confidence in scientific findings."
